How to get the most out of a virtual conference like ElasticON Global

ElasticON Global, our biggest user conference ever, is coming soon on October 13-15. For the first time ever, this three-day user conference is completely free — and completely virtual.

ElasticON Global is jam-packed with more than 100 sessions, including conversations with comedian and host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah and soccer star and World Cup champion Megan Rapinoe and demos of new Elastic products and solutions — plus free training, public sector and federal user stories and breakouts, AMAs, customer panels, and more. We know that joining a conference from your couch (or desk!) is a whole new experience. With so much going on, we wanted to share a few tips for getting the most out of our biggest, best ElasticON ever.

We know you’re busy, so here’s a cheat sheet for getting the most out of your ElasticON Global experience:

  1. Build your custom agenda with all the sessions you can’t miss.
  2. Get expert advice for all your difficult queries at the AMA sessions running throughout the event.
  3. Take advantage of networking opportunities by getting to know other Elastic users.
  4. Maximize your learning opportunities by taking advantage of the free training on offer.

Read on to learn more about putting these tips into practice.

Build your custom agenda

Need some help figuring out which sessions to attend? We’d suggest adding these sessions to your agenda right away: our conversations with Trevor Noah and Megan Rapinoe; the keynote from Shay Banon, founder and CEO of Elastic; and our diversity panel, where we’ll discuss how organizations can craft just, equitable, inclusive, and diverse cultures.

You’ll also want to find the perfect technical talks for your use case. We’ve made it easy for you with filters by level, solution, type, and more. Find sessions that match your needs with the power of search!

While planning your viewing strategy, don’t forget to leave gaps between sessions. ElasticON is a great opportunity for networking and skill building, so it’s important to leave a little extra time to network, swing by AMAs, and take advantage of training opportunities.

And don’t forget: if you have a lot of ground to cover, it can be helpful to strategize with colleagues who are attending as well — dividing and conquering will help you get the most out of the event. And if you can’t make it to everything, we’ll share the session recordings with you afterward.

Get expert advice at the virtual Ask Me Anything booth

The AMA booth is a great place to ask ... well ... anything! From best practices for upgrades and migrations to technical issues, tips and tricks, and feature exploration, our experts are there to field your toughest questions. We’ll also have dedicated times for AMAs on a variety of solutions. Bring your questions, visit often, and feel free to come back with follow-up queries.

Take advantage of networking opportunities

When the time comes, take a moment to set up your unique ElasticON profile in the event platform. Share a little about your projects and interests so that you can connect with fellow attendees who share your enthusiasm for the Elastic Stack.

Also, make sure to visit the virtual expo hall which will be jam-packed with our sponsors’ booths where you can collect giveaways, join live chats, and more. And be sure to use the chat feature during talks to ask questions and go deeper on the topics being discussed.
