Wagner Souza has been working in the information security area for five years, specializing in computer network security and processes involving ISO/IEC 27001 audit projects and personal data protection (LGPD/GDPR). He is part of a Security Operation Center (SOC) team focused on monitoring, threat detection, and vulnerability management.

When did you first embrace Elastic as a technology?

In 2021, I was challenged to apply information security knowledge using Elastic Security in monitoring and threat detection activities in our clients' environments. This experience was very interesting as it gave me great learning and a desire to explore further the power of the Elastic Stack in security operations.

What is the most memorable moment in your career?

It was the recognition I received from the Elastic® and cybersecurity community as a reference in the use of the Elastic Stack in security operations. This is something that is still little explored in the national context of Brazil, and this opened doors for me to participate as a speaker and in events in these communities.

What was a challenge you faced that Elastic technology helped you solve?

In a security operation, we have some processes such as monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats. With the integration of Elastic Stack solutions (SIEM + endpoint & cloud protection), this demand was faster, which provided an efficient and accurate service to our customers.

Have you spoken at any meetup groups or conferences? If so, how did you like it?

I have spoken at Elastic community events as well as cybersecurity events. This makes me very happy because I appreciate sharing knowledge and showing how it is possible to use the Elastic Stack in the security operations of a SOC.

What are your favorite things about the Elastic community?

The members' warm and receptive way of sharing knowledge and providing opportunities for each member to do the same, whether through lectures, organizing events, or answering questions. That is great.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share?

Just the gratitude of participating in such a generous community and inviting everyone to participate in this initiative because everyone can add a little and thus make the community grow even more.
