USAA Sees Success with Elastic Support

USAA, a Fortune 500 financial services firm for current and former members of the U.S. military and their families, fits the profile of many Elastic customers where open source software is early adoption: they sign up for one of our subscriptions because they want someone to call in the middle of the night. Someone that is on the hook to find a resolution. Someone that’s an expert. We lovingly refer to this as the ghostbuster package: who you gonna call?

But as Neelsen 'Nelly' Cyrus, senior security analyst at USAA, soon found out, working with the Elastic Customer Care team is so much more than the support you typically get from large, proprietary software vendors. Not only has Nelly received the break-fix support he’s needed in times of crisis, he’s also received an additional team member – in the form of Elastic Support Engineer Greg Nieman.

It’s been nearly two years since USAA purchased an Elastic subscription, and the reason they became a customer – to have a safety net – isn’t the reason they remain one. As they become more experienced with the Elastic Stack, they can handle a lot more of the ongoing maintenance on their own. But they also continue to expand their use of Elasticsearch, as well as become more ambitious with their use cases – and that’s why they want Elastic to be there to advise them along the way.

At Elastic{ON}16, Nelly and Greg got to meet each other in-person for the first time and share what it's been like working together. Check it out in the video above.
