Today we are pleased to announce the bug fix release of Elasticsearch 2.2.1 based on Lucene 5.4.1. This release is already available on Elastic Cloud, our Elasticsearch-as-a-service platform. Users are advised to upgrade if they find themselves affected by any of the bugs fixed in this version.

You can read the full release notes in the pages linked above, but some of the more important bug fixes are as follows:
- The Tribe node was not passing all relevant settings to the client nodes which join the configured clusters. In particular, Shield settings are now passed to the client nodes correctly.
- Marvel was unable to export data to a remote monitoring cluster when Shield was enabled.

_aliases
end point was ignoring any configured filters. - The GCE plugin was failing because of insufficient privileges.
