Get overall buckets APIedit

Retrieves overall bucket results that summarize the bucket results of multiple anomaly detection jobs. It accepts a GetOverallBucketsRequest object and responds with a GetOverallBucketsResponse object.

Get overall buckets requestedit

A GetOverallBucketsRequest object gets created with one or more jobId.

GetOverallBucketsRequest request = new GetOverallBucketsRequest(jobId1, jobId2); 

Constructing a new request referencing job IDs jobId1 and jobId2.

Optional argumentsedit

The following arguments are optional:


The span of the overall buckets. Must be greater or equal to the jobs' largest bucket_span.


Overall buckets with timestamps earlier than this time will be returned.


If true, interim results will be excluded. Overall buckets are interim if any of the job buckets within the overall bucket interval are interim. Defaults to false.


Overall buckets with overall scores greater or equal than this value will be returned.


Overall buckets with timestamps on or after this time will be returned.


The number of top job bucket scores to be used in the overall_score calculation. Defaults to 1.

Synchronous executionedit

When executing a GetOverallBucketsRequest in the following manner, the client waits for the GetOverallBucketsResponse to be returned before continuing with code execution:

Synchronous calls may throw an IOException in case of either failing to parse the REST response in the high-level REST client, the request times out or similar cases where there is no response coming back from the server.

In cases where the server returns a 4xx or 5xx error code, the high-level client tries to parse the response body error details instead and then throws a generic ElasticsearchException and adds the original ResponseException as a suppressed exception to it.

Asynchronous executionedit

Executing a GetOverallBucketsRequest can also be done in an asynchronous fashion so that the client can return directly. Users need to specify how the response or potential failures will be handled by passing the request and a listener to the asynchronous get-overall-buckets method:

The asynchronous method does not block and returns immediately. Once it is completed the ActionListener is called back using the onResponse method if the execution successfully completed or using the onFailure method if it failed. Failure scenarios and expected exceptions are the same as in the synchronous execution case.

A typical listener for get-overall-buckets looks like:
