Advancing Earth Science with Elasticsearch at Terradue
Terradue's mission is to make Earth Science move forward. The company develops and operates large cloud solutions for indexing, querying, accessing, and processing millions of data from Earth Observation satellites, and utilizes Elasticsearch to empower users to expound it.
In this talk, Emmanuel will highlight how Terradue uses Elasticsearch in conjunction with the Elasticsearch.Net client to tackle scientific challenges in several domains, such as geohazards for rapid response monitoring of volcanoes or earthquakes, hydrology by mapping flood extent, and urban by detecting settlement footprint.
Emmanuel Mathot is Tech Lead at Terradue in charge of the Cloud and Exploitation Platforms development. After earning a master's degree in computer science at UCL in Belgium, Emmanuel headed to Rome in Italy as a long term mission consultant for the European Space Agency for ground segment applications in HPC distributed systems. He has spent the last 10 years in the space industry facing the new challenges of the earth science community, and enjoys building the innovative science exploitation platforms using new technologies of big data and massive processing.
