The Elastic Excellence Awards celebrate organizations and individuals demonstrating ingenuity and resilience by pushing the limits of data search, observability, and security with groundbreaking implementations. We are honored to announce the 2023 winners and honorees.

Winner: C4ADS

C4ADS uses Elasticsearch® to help its journalist, government, and civil society partners search and analyze terabytes of publicly available structured and unstructured data.

Observability Business Transformation Award

Winner: Comcast

Comcast delivers world-class connectivity and entertainment experiences that delight customers and technology that powers the future. The Comcast DevX Observability Team uses Elastic Observability to provide operational excellence by facilitating rapid identification and resolution of issues. Elastic Observability empowers its engineers with critical insights that drive innovation and the delivery of landmark events, such as the exclusive AFC Championship on Peacock.

Security Business Transformation Award

Winner: The Texas A&M University System Cybersecurity Team

The Texas A&M University System is one of the largest systems of higher education in the US. Through a statewide network of 11 universities and 8 state agencies, the Texas A&M System educates more than 153,000 students and makes more than 23 million additional educational contacts through service and outreach programs each year. The Texas A&M System Cybersecurity Team protects the university system's members and external public-sector customers using Elastic for endpoint monitoring and SIEM.

Solve with Search Award

The Solve with Search Award recognizes an organization uncovering relevant insights through data and drives action based on those insights.

Winner: SurePay

SurePay makes payments personal, easier, and more secure. In addition, it helps banks and other organizations to avoid misdirected payments and to reduce payment fraud by giving greater assurance that their payments are going only to the intended beneficiaries. SurePay uses Elastic to scale its confirmation of payee service worldwide, performing millions of checks a day. Not only does SurePay use Elasticsearch to store account data, it also uses Elastic for business analytics and as a platform for Observability.

Honoree: Bharti Airtel

Innovation Award

The Innovation Award recognizes an organization reimagining how problems are approached and tackling challenges head-on to achieve success.

Winner: Ada

Ada is an AI-powered customer service automation platform on a mission to make customer service extraordinary for everyone. It utilizes Elastic’s vector search capabilities to discern intent and match user queries with the most relevant responses based on embeddings generated from its proprietary natural language processing (NLP) models.

Public Sector Award

The Public Sector Award recognizes an organization in the public sector that is leading the way in innovative, sustainable, and critical use cases.

Winner: The Met Office

The Met Office is the UK's national meteorological service. It uses more than 10 million weather observations and an advanced atmospheric model to create more than 3,000 tailored forecasts and briefings daily. The Met Office's critical weather services and world-leading climate science help people make better decisions to live and work safely and productively. To ensure and improve service delivery, the Met Office’s Logging Monitoring and Alerting Team uses Elastic to gain critical, real-time insights into its on-premise cloud and weather observations networks.

Certified Professional of the Year

This award recognizes one individual who received their Elastic Certification and then went on to give back to the Elastic community and advance their personal and professional goals.

Winner: Adam Tischler, CISSP, CISM, ECE, ECOE, ECA, Cyber Operations Leader, ECS

Adam Tischler is an experienced security professional with over 13 years of industry experience. Tischler helps develop and manage the continuous diagnostic and mitigation (CDM) dashboard ecosystem to deliver cyber situational awareness data to federal agencies and summarizes risk exposure across the government for the Department of Homeland Security. As a member of the Elastic Security Federal Advisory Board, Tischler has provided valuable feedback on new features and helped guide the capabilities of Elasticsearch to strengthen the security of federal customers. He has also participated in building out some of the largest existing Elastic deployments and has made countless contributions to the Elastic community.
