Costin is technical lead for ES|QL, the Elasticsearch Query Language and compute engine. He built the SQL interface to Elasticsearch and founded the Query Languages team. He also authored the integration with Big Data/Hadoop ecosystem space offering native first-class support for Elasticsearch in Apache Spark, Hive, and Pig.

Before Elastic, Costin led various Spring projects as a core team member of the popular Spring Framework.

Costin is an occasional speaker on Elasticsearch/Data Analytics/Integration related topics at conferences, including Spark Summit, Elastic{ON}, Devoxx, JavaOne, JavaZone, Strata, and SpringOne.

The Elasticsearch Query Language (ES|QL) has been added to the Elasticsearch repository. ES|QL is a powerful declarative language that's native to Elasticsearch and designed for composability, expressiveness, and speed.
