Advancing sustainability

As part of Elastic's efforts to drive impactful long-term value, we incorporate sustainability principles into our main business activities, informed by our core competencies and data expertise. Our commitments are rooted in our belief in the power of data to solve challenging problems and make a positive societal impact. 

Organizations can't manage what they can't see, and that's as true for sustainability as it is for security or infrastructure. We apply the same thinking internally, using data to understand our own footprint and track progress against our commitments.

  • Our ambition

    Our targets to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain by FY2050 have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. We are dedicated to iterative growth, openness, and collaboration with our stakeholders on the path there.

  • Our progress

    FY2026 was our first full reporting year against our science-based targets. We improved our Scope 3 emissions revenue intensity by 18% against our FY24 baseline and moved our cloud emissions accounting from estimates to actual supplier-reported data.

  • Our opportunity

    We see huge potential in using our technology to help advance our customers' own sustainability objectives, from finding code inefficiencies to turning emissions data into actionable insight. In Elastic, they will also find a like-minded, lower-carbon partner.

Environmental impact

As a software company, we believe our products can help enable the low-carbon transition. Customers run our technology in efficient cloud environments, and our business delivers services at scale with the added carbon efficiencies of a distributed-by-design workforce.

Our commitment to addressing climate risk is formalized through targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): near-term reductions by FY2034 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain by FY2050.

We also made our data better. By migrating cloud-related emissions accounting from spend-based estimates to actual, supplier-reported data from AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, we now track our largest impact category with substantially greater accuracy.

  • Our Paris and London offices source 100% renewable energy, and our renewable energy engagement program is expanding coverage across the portfolio.

  • We prioritize LEED Gold or Platinum certification when selecting new sites.

  • We are migrating workloads to energy-efficient processors: AWS Graviton instances consume up to 60% less energy than comparable instances, and Google Axion delivers an 80% improvement in performance per watt.
