Steven Schuurman, Founder
Steven Schuurman was one of the four co-founders of Elastic, serving as CEO for the first five years of Elastic. Before Elastic, Steven was CEO of Orange11, which was acquired by Trifork A/S (TRIFOR.CO) in 2012. Prior to Orange11, Steven co-founded the internationally renowned open source software vendor SpringSource, one of the most successful open source companies in history. SpringSource is the world's leading Enterprise Java middleware company, and was acquired by VMware (VMW) in 2009.
Peter Fenton, General Partner, Benchmark Capital
Peter Fenton joined Benchmark Capital in 2006 after spending seven years as a partner with Accel Partners. His current investments include DotCloud, EngineYard, Hortonworks, Lithium, New Relic, Pentaho, Polyvore, Twitter, Yelp, Zendesk, and Zuora. Among his previous investments were Coremetrics (acquired by IBM), FriendFeed (acquired by Facebook), JBoss (acquired by Red Hat), Reactivity (acquired by Cisco), SpringSource (acquired by VMware), Terracotta (acquired by Software AG), Wily Technology (acquired by CA), Xensource (acquired by Citrix), and Zimbra (acquired by Yahoo!). Peter has an MBA from Stanford Business School and BA from Stanford University.
Mike Volpi, Partner, Index Ventures
Mike Volpi joined Index Ventures in July 2009. He is a Partner in the San Francisco office, focusing on investments in Enterprise Software and Consumer Internet companies. He also contributes to the firm's later stage growth fund, and currently serves on the boards of Path, Sonos, Lookout, Hortonworks, Soundcloud, Big Switch Networks, Zuora, Foodily, Storsimple, and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC). Mike was previously a Director of Cloud.com (now part of Citrix). Prior to Index, Mike was at a Cisco. He was Senior Vice President & General Manager of the Routing and Service Provider Technology Group, where he led Cisco's business for the Service Provider market, and was also responsible for all of Cisco's routing and access products. In 2007, this was an $11 billion business for Cisco. Mike also served as the company's Chief Strategy Officer, where he was responsible for Cisco's corporate strategy as well as business development, strategic alliances, advanced Internet projects, legal services, and government affairs. He has Master's and Bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Chetan Puttagunta, General Partner, New Enterprise Associates (NEA)
Chetan joined NEA in 2011 and focuses on enterprise software. His investments at NEA include MuleSoft, Elastic, MongoDB, Acquia, Reltio, Placester, Heap, Sentry, Swiftype, Forter, ScoutRFP, Canopy, and Folloze. He was previously involved with Gaikai (acquired by Sony). Prior to joining NEA, Chetan was an investor with H.I.G. Capital’s Leveraged Buyout Group and a technology investment banker with Houlihan Lokey. Chetan earned his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
In Memoriam: Harry Weller, General Partner, New Enterprise Associates (NEA)
Harry's inspiration and contributions to Elastic will have a lasting effect on the company. He is dearly missed. Harry led the June 2014 $70 million Series C funding and was an integral part of Elastic's Board of Directors. Harry Weller led NEA's east coast, early stage investing practice and was a founder of NEA's China organization.
