Elastic Cloud Serverless roadmap
Stay updated on Elastic Cloud Serverless — the fastest way to start and scale security, observability, and search. Experience hassle-free scaling, all powered by a rearchitected Elasticsearch.
This page is a summarized version of our Elastic Cloud Serverless roadmap.* It reflects our key initiatives and objectives and includes the implementation status and proposed descriptions for these initiatives.
For the full Serverless roadmap as well as the roadmap of all other Elastic products, please refer to our public roadmap on GitHub.

Additional regions for AWS, GCP, and Azure to allow you to store your project data anywhere.
Seamlessly explore, visualize, and receive alerts on data across your organization's serverless projects with cross project search. Whether your projects are spread across different cloud providers, regions, or project types, cross project search brings all of your data together.
Bring your own key (BYOK) adds another layer of protection to your sensitive data by encrypting data at rest with your own keys. Providing encryption keys increases data confidentiality requirements and data disposal. You retain total control over your keys and their lifecycle.
Migrate your data and Kibana assets (dashboards, visualizations, rules, and more) into a serverless project.
Initial support introduced already: the ability to reindex data from Elastic Cloud Hosted deployments into a serverless project.
Additional tooling planned:
1. Reindex data from an Elasticsearch snapshot
2. Kibana assets as code, which will allow users to export definitions from any Elasticsearch cluster and import them into a serverless project.
Safeguard your critical data with the ability to create and manage your own backups directly within your serverless project. This feature will allow you to perform on-demand backups and restore your data to a previous state, giving you more control over your data protection and recovery strategies.
Add another layer of security to your serverless deployments by restricting inbound traffic to only the sources that you trust.
Establish a dedicated, private connection to your Elastic serverless projects using AWS PrivateLink, Azure Private Link, or Google Cloud PSC. Keep sensitive data off the public internet to meet strict security and compliance requirements, control access from your VPC, and reduce data transfer costs.
Customers can get detailed insights to understand how their resource consumption drives their Serverless bills as well as the ability to define budget alerts.
Customers can use AutoOps to monitor their project performance and understand how it correlates with resource consumption across the billing dimensions.
Customers can get easy access to their project logs (slow logs, ES|QL query logs, audit logs, etc) in order to better understand how to tune their queries, but also satisfy compliance requirements.

Get access to serverless projects as part of your 14-day free trial.
Create and manage serverless projects via the public API or your Terraform config.
Simplify data retention for your Elastic organization with new settings for default and maximum data retention across all indices of your project.
Pay for Elastic Cloud Serverless using your preferred payment method, either via your existing cloud provider marketplace agreements or directly to Elastic.
Elastic Cloud with BYOIdP delegates the login process to your own SAML identity providers (IDPs) to control and manage users and their access. Use BYOIdP to enforce policies for password age, user and device authentication policies, location, and more.
Product-specific onboarding is available for search, security, and observability.
Scale up and down; automatically adjust the resources based on the workload demand.
Optimize hardware resources to your needs by scaling CPU and storage independently of one another.
Independently scale indexing and search workloads quickly and reliably, ensuring optimal search performance regardless of indexing load and optimal indexing performance regardless of search load.
Use object storage for data persistence, ensuring practically infinite storage that is cheap, reliable, and durable while not compromising on search and indexing performance.
Segment-level query parallelization and smart cache ensure low latency search on object storage.
Pricing is metered on actual usage tailored to the different needs of search, security, and observability.
Add another layer of security to your serverless deployments by restricting inbound traffic to only the sources that you trust.
Secure your deployments by controlling inbound traffic with IP filtering. You can create allowlists to ensure that only trusted IP addresses and CIDR blocks can connect, adding a critical layer of security to your serverless applications.
