In 2015, Pfizer Digital began building out a data lake called the Scientific Data Cloud (SDC). Earlier implementations of this were strictly Hadoop-based, but indexing content in the lake became a necessity, requiring other solutions. Pfizer turned to Elastic, which quickly became a key part of their infrastructure.
