The Evolution of Log Insight at MZ Games
Machine Zone is the company behind massively-multiplayer online games Game of War, Fire Age, and Mobile Strike. Real-time operation of these games is essential to provide a great user experience. As a result, the engineering team at MZ evolved from using grep with pssh to the Elastic Stack as the critical engine behind their operational intelligence.
In this talk, Eric and Reggie will walk through how they optimized the Elastic Stack over time to maximize their insight, touch upon their infrastructure set up, go over their most commonly used dashboards, share case studies on debugging, as well as provide details on how they established a system to track player activity to support customer service.
Eric is a director of engineering on the game team at MZ. The goal across his teams is to create the frameworks and services to allow the games organization to scale to accommodate both a rapidly growing number of players of the games and developers within the organization.
Reggie is a developer from the Core Game Tech group at MZ, working on framework improvements and performance optimization for Game of War and Mobile Strike. Over the past year, he's helped develop and mature MZ's use of Elasticsearch on a variety of projects.
