Elasticsearch 6.1.3 and 5.6.7 released

Today we are pleased to announce the bugfix releases of Elasticsearch 6.1.3, based on Lucene 7.1.0, and Elasticsearch 5.6.7, based on Lucene 6.6.1. Elasticsearch 6.1.3 is the latest stable release, and is already available for deployment on Elastic Cloud, our Elasticsearch-as-a-service platform.

You can read about all the changes in the release notes linked above, but there are a few changes which are worth highlighting:

  • Transient cluster settings were no longer being applied once additional persistent settings were set. This is an important bug fix for an issue that has been present since 6.0.
  • Replica recovery could enter an endless flushing loop.
  • Several snapshot/restore edge cases have been improved.
