Logging in to Enterprise Searchedit

To access an Enterprise Search deployment for the first time or after a period of inactivity, you must log in. However, each deployment offers multiple login options. You may need help choosing among these options.

Log in to Enterprise Search using one of the following options. Choose the first that applies to your deployment:

Logging in using Elastic Cloudedit

You may have an Elastic Cloud user account that permits you access to one or more Enterprise Search deployments. Enterprise Search operators and administrators can assign Enterprise Search roles to Elastic Cloud users.

Since Enterprise Search 7.9.2, deployments on Elastic Cloud default to Elastic Cloud user accounts.

Log in using Elastic Cloud:

  1. Within the Enterprise Search login screen, choose Log in with Elastic Cloud, which redirects you to the Elastic Cloud login screen.
  2. Log in to Elastic Cloud, which returns you to Enterprise Search as a logged-in user.

Logging in using your username and password for the deploymentedit

You may have a user account specific to an Enterprise Search deployment. Enterprise Search operators and administrators can invite and manage users from within each deployment.

Before Enterprise Search 7.9.2, deployments on Elastic Cloud defaulted to deployment-specific user accounts. Self-managed deployments also default to deployment-specific user accounts.

Log in using your username and password for the deployment:

  1. Within the Enterprise Search login screen, complete the username and password fields.
  2. Choose Log In.

Requesting help from an operator or administrator for the deploymentedit

If you cannot log in to Enterprise Search using an Elastic Cloud or deployment-specific user, you should request help from an operator or administrator for the deployment.

This member of your organization has permission to invite and create users, reset passwords, and assign roles permitting access to Enterprise Search.

Furthermore, some deployments manage users through an external identity provider. When this applies, an operator or administrator can provide you the login procedure for your deployment.

Logging in using the elastic username and password for the deploymentedit

If you are an operator or administrator for an Enterprise Search deployment, you may have access to the password for the elastic user. This is the default "superuser" that was created with the deployment.

Log in using the elastic username and password for the deployment:

  1. Within the Enterprise Search login screen, enter elastic in the username field.
  2. Enter the password for the elastic superuser in the password field.
  3. Choose Log In.

Resetting the password for the elastic user for the deploymentedit

If you are an operator or administrator for an Enterprise Search deployment, but you no longer have access to the elastic user password, you may be able to reset this password for the deployment.

Reset the password for the elastic user for the deployment:

See Reset the elastic user password in the Elastic Cloud documentation for the procedure to reset the password.

Requesting help from Elastic Supportedit

If you can neither log in nor reset the elastic user password, you may be able to request help from Elastic Support. Most Elastic subscriptions include support, but response times vary by subscription level.

Request help from Elastic Support:

See Working with Elastic Support on the Elastic website for the procedure to open a support case.

Requesting help from the Elastic communityedit

If your Elastic subscription does not include support, you can request help from the Elastic community.

Request help from the Elastic community:

See Connect with the Elastic Community on the Elastic website for a list of Elastic community resources.
