The Beats project has evolved from just one Beat – Packetbeat – to several Beats, many of which are written by users like you. In this talk, join Beats core developers Nicolas and Steffen in their whirlwind attempt at creating a new Beat, live, from scratch!

Steffen Siering

Steffen is a core developer on the Beats open source project at Elastic. Previously, he worked on network monitoring for IPTEGO, a company offering monitoring solutions for VoIP/IMS networks, that was later acquired by Acme Packet. He continued working on real-time network monitoring for Acme Packet and later Oracle as Senior Software Engineer before joining Elastic.

Nicolas Ruflin

Nicolas Ruflin is a software engineer in the Beats team. He is passionate about automating everything through software and embraces the constancy of change in the field. When not pondering engineering problems, he enjoys doing all kinds of sports, particularly handball.
