When X-Pack security is enabled, user authorization for creating reports is
controlled by the
xpack.reporting.roles.allowsetting in the
kibana.yml, which defaults to
['reporting_user']. When they are assigned to the built-in
reporting_userrole, users no longer have write access to the underlying X-Pack reporting indices in Elasticsearch. If you use custom reporting roles, the write privilege to the indices must be removed and the role must be added to the
xpack.reporting.roles.allowsetting. See Reporting Settings in Kibana.
