Teams collaborate better and execute more quickly when they can easily find everything that they need. <a href="/blog/elastic-enterprise-search-beta1-released">The first beta release of Enterprise Search introduced core features</a>: rich, organization-wide search that understands your natural language, an introductory set of application connectors, and flexible group management. Beta 2 reveals more of the exciting future of Enterprise Search, offering greater connectivity and extensibility.

But, as vital as those applications have become, your workplace isn’t made up of only third-party applications. Each organization will have many internal applications that solve problems as unique as its business goals.
Beta 2 expands the capabilities of the <a href="https://swiftype.com/documentation/enterprise-search/guides/content-sources/custom-api-sources">custom API source</a>. Each custom API source can now have a custom schema. A custom schema means that each unique source can choose which data is important to display to searchers. You can wire in any of your internal systems and have them appear however you choose.
Enterprise Search supports ingestion of custom objects of all sorts, without the enforcement of a rigid schema. Any user can ingest documents and objects as they exist on your many&nbsp;platforms. Since not all documents and objects are created equal, developers can now focus on building connectors that map with the unique characteristics of their unique content platforms.
For instance, the data and metadata of a document found on a legal archiving platform will differ greatly from log events on a server or objects living in a CRM like Salesforce. For that reason, ingestion of any API source must be flexible.
You might use this to record unique log events from your legal archiving platform:

 <h2>A growing connector library</h2>Custom API connectors provide great flexibility,&nbsp;and&nbsp;connectors are still the easiest way to get data flowing into Enterprise Search. Usually, a few applications are at the heart of a functional team. For example, your engineering department might be glued to one or two applications — such as JIRA and Confluence — to help manage issues and communication.
Engineering teams have a challenging task; they have to navigate the potential solutions ahead of themselves and identify the best outcome. And they need to leverage the knowledge of their organization and the many experts they have access to so they can take advantage of prior works and solutions.
At Elastic, we get engineering teams and we want other engineering organizations to know we can help with the multi-tool madness. We’ve released four&nbsp;new technically focused connectors: Jira, Jira Server, Confluence,&nbsp;and Confluence Server. Adjust the configuration files of either Elastic Enterprise Search or Elasticsearch to permit automatic index creation. You can do that in one of two ways — choose whichever feels best:

There's a whole lot of site search and enterprise search goodness on the horizon.

I am thrilled to announce that Swiftype is joining forces with us. Swiftype is the creator of a highly-regarded, popular SaaS-based Site Search product and a newly launched Enterprise Search product. Meet Matt and Quin in a <a href="/webinars/swiftype-technical-journey-with-elasticsearch">Swiftype webinar</a> coming up on November 29.
Some of you may be wondering, why is a company focused on building SaaS search applications joining forces with a search technology company?
As I&#x2019;ve said, I&#x2019;ve always viewed &#x2018;search&#x2019; as a wonderful foundation to solve many different use cases, whether it is search embedded in an application; search used for logging, security, or metrics; or search being used to create a whole set of new applications and products. Well, Swiftype did this. They built an entire company focused on making it simple for users to put a search box on their websites or within their applications and an enterprise search product for organizations to manage disparate content from various web applications.
Swiftype&#x2019;s first product is <a href="https://swiftype.com/site-search">Site Search</a>. If you go to websites and help centers for companies&#xA0;like Asana, Shopify, SurveyMonkey, and TechCrunch, that&#x2019;s the Swiftype Site Search product powering the search box experience. And under the hood of Site Search, is Elasticsearch. In fact, Swiftype has been using Elasticsearch for a long time, since Elasticsearch version 0.90 for indexing and storing searchable content. Like so many other successful SaaS companies do, Swiftype created an amazing user interface and a lot of infrastructure around Elasticsearch to provide an incredible SaaS-first Site Search experience. I&#x2019;m excited to announce that Site Search will be offered with a new introductory subscription plan starting at $79/month (<a href="https://app.swiftype.com/users/sign_up?utm_source=elastic" target="_blank">explore with a free trial</a>). This will allow customers to grow at their own pace. In addition, Swiftype&apos;s Site Search also provides an ideal migration path for <a href="https://swiftype.com/google-site-search-alternative">Google Site Search (GSS)</a> customers.
Earlier this year, Swiftype released its second product, Swiftype <a href="https://swiftype.com/enterprise-search">Enterprise Search</a>. This product has web crawlers and out-of-the-box connectors to cloud applications like Atlassian, Box, Dropbox, Github, Google Apps, Microsoft Outlook, Salesforce, Slack, Zendesk, and an API to build custom connectors. With the EOL of traditional enterprise search products like <a href="https://swiftype.com/google-search-appliance-alternative">GSA (Google Search Appliance)</a>, Swiftype Enterprise Search meets the needs of today&#x2019;s modern organization using many cloud-based shared and private content repositories. Effective immediately, Swiftype&#x2019;s Enterprise Search product will be available as a beta via trial request. As we move towards making it GA, our combined engineering teams will integrate more capabilities of the Elastic Stack and X-Pack into this product, as well as make this product available as both a SaaS service and on-premise solution.
I&#x2019;d like to welcome the entire Swiftype team, customers and community to the Elastic family.
